Chef Christians's Story

Get to Know Chef Christian!

Christian Barruos-Brens, a visionary and talented young man with Dominican roots. At just 20 years old, he has earned a position at the Miami Culinary Institute (MCI) for his business acumen and skills in executing dishes, creating two areas of specialization: one dedicated to sweets and another to Caribbean-flavored cuisine. His creations have been enjoyed across all campuses of Miami Dade College, where he is eagerly awaited as one of their top suppliers. From his live-cooked gourmet burgers to elaborate buffets and rich Hispanic heritage dishes, people rave about the chef's flavor and seasoning, surprised by his talent at such a young age.  Beyond academic excellence, which has earned him various scholarships, he has showcased his culinary work on the Roku Channel, where he competed and won in a series of cooking shows. He was also the chef behind the scenes of another series broadcasted by Univision, revolving around a family-owned restaurant and their daughter studying to become a chef—all dishes presented in that series were crafted by 'Chef Christian,' as he's known in the industry. From exciting collaborations with Goya to appearances on Telemundo's "Hoy día" and Univision's "Despierta América," Christian continues his upward trajectory, with his charisma, energy, and infectious smile. He is noted for his firm determination to make a societal impact and serve as a role model for young people, given his own story of overcoming challenges, including the death of his father and his mother's battle with cancer. He volunteers in various activities, supporting them with donations and his presence, aimed at nonprofit initiatives benefiting underserved communities in South Florida. His impressive resume includes collaborations with major brands like Cheetos and PepsiCo, notably participating in the Deja Tu Huella Tour. Additionally, he played a crucial role in the success of the Miami Book Fair by cooking for a select VIP group, including Hollywood jet set personalities. With a unique blend of skills, cultural influence, and a history of successful collaborations, Christian Barruos-Brens is not just a chef; he is a promise of culinary art with a Caribbean flair.
